Scientific Area: Wireless Technologies

Group: Wireless Circuits – Av

Work Objectives: Within the scope of a large cooperation project with a key industry partner, several activities are planned for the next four years with the general objective of enhancing the performance of modern wireless transmitters, for cellular network applications (frequencies on the order of units of GHz). These work activities cover different layers of the transmitter architecture, from modeling the behavior of single transistor devices to accurate modeling and linearity compensation of entire amplifier circuits. The position being opened in this Call for Applications is for carrying out the research and application work required to successfully execute and complete the tasks inherent to the objective of this cooperation project.

Place of work: The work will be developed at the premises of Instituto de Telecomunicações at University of Aveiro, under the supervision of Prof. Telmo Reis Cunha.

Duration: 12 months, with the possibility of renewal. This type of scholarship has a maximum duration of 4 years. Start date: October 2025 or soon thereafter.

• Are intended for carrying out R&D activities by students enrolled in a doctoral program, aiming to consolidate their scientific training through the development of research work leading to the respective academic degree, whether or not integrated into R&D projects.
• Are intended for carrying out R&D activities by master's degree holders who are enrolled in
  - degree courses that are part of the educational programme of a higher education institution, developed in association or cooperation with one or more R&D units.

Candidates should have a Master’s degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering, or equivalent. Candidates must have experience in at least one of the following topics:
- Digital predistortion of RF electronic amplifiers; - Evaluating/simulating the electrical behavior of electromagnetic structures; - Behavioral modeling of nonlinear electronic circuits and/or devices; - Application of signal processing tools to compensate the behavior of electronic circuits. Candidates should also be registered on a doctoral programme.

Additional Information

Monthly salary: 1309. 64€ according to the table of grant amounts awarded directly by FCT for positions held in Portugal ( www.fct. pt/apoios/bolsas/valores ). The payment will be made by bank transfer.

Selection process

Selection criteria:

• Interview: 50%

The jury will initially evaluate the CV of the Candidates and only those that have a profile that is found adequate to the work objectives will move to the interview stage (the remaining will be excluded). The jury may select less than the number of positions offered (including none) according to the adequacy of the profiles of the candidates. Candidates not fulfilling the selection criteria will be immediately excluded.
