Group: Wireless Circuits – AV

Work Objectives: Study the
-
-
- art power amplifier architectures and see if they can be used to improve efficiency at large power
- off levels. Propose novel power amplifiers/system architectures. Propose advanced design methods (e. g, using Artificial Intelligence Techniques) Find the limitations in current technologies and give hints to their improvement.

Place of work: The work will be developed at the premises of Instituto de Telecomunicações at University of Aveiro, under the supervision of Dr. Luís Carlos Cótimos Nunes.

Duration: 12 months, with the possibility of renewal. This type of scholarship has a maximum duration of 4 years. Start date: October 2025 or soon thereafter.

After the notification of the results, candidates have 10 working days if they wish to contest the decision.

• Are intended for carrying out R&D activities by students enrolled in a doctoral program, aiming to consolidate their scientific training through the development of research work leading to the respective academic degree, whether or not integrated into R&D projects.
• Are intended for carrying out R&D activities by master's degree holders who are enrolled in
  - degree courses that are part of the educational programme of a higher education institution, developed in association or cooperation with one or more R&D units.

Candidates must be enrolled in a course not conferring a degree or in a doctoral program in the areas of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Physics Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or equivalent. Background and experience in RF/Wireless circuit design, Power Amplifier design or Artificial Intelligence techniques will be valued. Interest in pursuing a Ph. D. study program will be also valued.

Additional Information

Monthly salary:1309. 64€ according to the table of grant amounts awarded directly by FCT for positions held in Portugal ( www.fct. pt/apoios/bolsas/valores ). The payment will be made by bank transfer.

Selection process

Selection criteria:

C2 - Suitability of the candidates’ profile to the project based on admission requirements and relevant work experience in the tasks described in the work plan (50%)

The jury reserves the right not to select any of the admitted candidates. In addition, the jury also reserves the right to have an interview before the candidate admission.
