Join Nokia in this role as the trusted expert and main point of contact for all Health & Safety matters locally. You’ll ensure full compliance with Portuguese legislation, advise the Country Management Team and Business Groups, and help create a safe, supportive, and compliant work environment for everyone.
You’ll be part of a dynamic, collaborative team within Market Europe People Safety & Security Operations, where your expertise and proactive approach will make a real impact on people’s wellbeing and organizational success.
How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn
- Ensure Health & Safety compliance: Monitor and maintain compliance with all Portuguese Health & Safety (H&S) regulations and Nokia standards, including legal reporting, supplier and project assessments, and incident investigations.
- Promote a strong safety culture: Deliver local training programs such as General Safety, Onboarding, and Emergency Evacuation; communicate H&S performance to employees, leaders, and other stakeholders.
- Manage and improve systems and procedures: Maintain and continuously enhance the ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System, and adapt Nokia’s global procedures to Portuguese legal and customer requirements.
- Coordinate emergency and environmental responsibilities: Act as the Emergency Coordinator for the Alfragide site, liaising with national authorities, and ensure timely submission of legally required environmental reports (REEE – Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment; Batteries; APA/SILIAMB – Portuguese Environment Agency system; Packaging).
Key Skills And Experience
- Proven Health & Safety expertise: 5–7 years of experience in the Health & Safety (H&S) field, including at least 3–5 years in decentralized or
- site operations, delivering measurable results. - Qualified professional: Holds a valid Portuguese H&S certification (National Authority Level 4 or Level 6). Demonstrated experience applying H&S legislation, management systems, and international standards.
- Strong leadership and
- solving skills: Able to work independently, prioritize effectively, and manage complex or ambiguous situations — especially during crises — with a focus on practical solutions. - Collaborative communicator: Skilled at influencing and engaging colleagues and leaders across diverse cultures and functions through clear, respectful, and persuasive communication.
- Flexibility and mobility: Willing to travel occasionally (approximately 5–10%) to support site activities and stakeholder engagement.
