Offer Description

MARE – Marine and Environmental Science Centre

On 4 August 2025, a call for tenders is open for a Scholarship for MSc researcher, to perform duties for 6 months within the scope of projects related to aquaculture, funded by Figueiró dos Vinhos Municipality and possibly other sources such as ARNET.

Scientific area: Aquaculture

Admission requirements: BSc in Biology or similar, MSc in Aquaculture or related fields, experience in aquaculture, maintaining fish in captivity, developing feeding processes, managing aquaculture equipment, fish sampling, availability for extended stays in Figueiró dos Vinhos, training in laboratory animal science, and a driving license (Category B).

Candidates must be enrolled in study cycles leading to an academic degree or in courses not leading to a degree, in accordance with FCT regulations.

Work plan: Management and maintenance of aquaculture systems, control of fish transport and stabling, sampling in freshwater environments, data processing, and report drafting.

Legislation: The scholarship will be formalized through a contract, following applicable laws and regulations, including those of the University of Évora and FCT.

Place of work: University of Évora, MARE Centre, particularly at Campelo Aquaculture Station, Figueiró dos Vinhos, supervised by the University and scientific staff.

Duration: 6 months, starting September 2025, with possible renewal depending on funding.

Selection methods: Curricular assessment (30%), relevant experience (70%), with an interview if necessary. The jury may not award the grant if no suitable candidates are found.

Results notification: Results will be posted publicly at the University and via email. Candidates have 10 working days to respond to provisional results.
