Offer Description

Applications are open for (1) Scientific Initiation Studentships, within the framework of the Pedagogical Innovation Project “Ver para Aprender”, reference 1018P. 06759. 1. 01

Workplan:This scientific initiation scholarship aims to support the development of the automatic illustration system of the Khepri educational tool. The scholarship holder will collaborate in the improvement of this system through the following tasks:

• Enhancing the graphic styles of the illustrations;
• Extending the illustrated geometric primitives;
• Integrating the system into pedagogical environments such as Jupyter Notebook;
• Producing technical documentation for the developed automatic illustration system.

Duration:The research fellowship will have the duration of 7 months and is expected to begin in September 2025. The scholarship contract is not renewable.

It is mandatory to formalize applications with the submission of the following documents: i) B1 Form – Fellowship application ( http://drh. tecnico. ulisboa. pt/bolseiros/formularios/ ); ii) Curriculum Vitae ; iii) academic degree certificate, where applicable; iv) proof of enrollment at an academic degree course; v) motivation letter;

• To be enrolled at a bachelor degree or master degree;
• Knowledge of programming in the Julia language;
• Familiarity with functional programming paradigms and metaprogramming;
• Availability and flexibility in the schedule for executing the work plan.

Additional Information

Monthly maintenance allowance:the amount of the monthly maintenance allowance is € 651, 12, being the payment method of the Fellow by wire transfer.

Eligibility criteria

Admission Requirements:

• To be enrolled at a bachelor degree or master degree;
• Knowledge of programming in the Julia language;
• Familiarity with functional programming paradigms and metaprogramming;
• Availability and flexibility in the schedule for executing the work plan.

Selection methods: The selection methods will be the following: a) Curriculum evaluation (20%), b) experience with the Julia programming language and knowledge in the areas of metaprogramming and
- circular evaluation (30%), c) interest in algorithm illustration strategies (30%), and d) motivation letter (20%).

Announcement/ notification of the results: The final evaluation results will be communicated to all applicants by email.

Deadlines and procedures of complaint and appeal. A complaint may be lodged from the final decision, or an appeal to the President of IST, within 15 working days counted from the respective notification.

Workplace:The work will be developed at INESC-ID – Institute of Systems and Computer Engineering - Research and Development of Instituto Superior Técnico, under the scientific supervision of Professors António Paulo Teles de Menezes Correia Leitão and Inês Alexandra do Côrro Caetano.
