Polytechnic of Leiria is now opening applications for one scientific research fellowship, within the project “NEUROBIOTECH - Combining New Cell-based Therapies and Biodegradable Polymers to Promote Peripheral Nerve Regeneration - 16024”, financed by the Thematic Program Innovation and Digital Transition (COMPETE2030) through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and by national funds from the State Budget (OE) through the Foundation for Science and Technology, I. P, FCT under the following conditions:

. SCIENTIFIC AREA: Physiotherapy

. RECIPIENTS: Physiotherapy graduates who are master’s students in physiotherapy.

. DURATION: 24 months, not renewable. The scholarship is due to start in 10/2025

. WORK PLAN: Participate in the characterization, optimization, and validation of bioactive scaffolds in vitro and in vivo.

• a) Guide Tube Design and Physical and Chemical Characterization;
• b) In vivo Studies - Sciatic Nerve Injuries in Rats - Kinematic Assessment
• c) In vivo Studies (Scale-up) - Common Peroneal Nerve Injuries in Sheep - Kinematic Assessment.

. WORKPLACE AND SCIENTIFIC SUPERVISION: The work will be developed at the Centre for Rapid and Sustained Product Development from the Polytechnic of Leiria (CDRSP-PLeiria), under the supervision of P&D professors: Sandra Cristina Fernandes Amado e Nuno Manuel Fernandes Alves.

. GRANT FINANTIAL COMPONENTS: Monthly maintenance stipend of € 1. 040, 98, according to the FCT Regulation for Studentships and Fellowships. Plus, if applicable, the monthly Voluntary Social Insurance. The scholarship holder will benefit from Personal Accident Insurance for the duration of the scholarship grant.

. PAYMENT: The maintenance stipend will be monthly processed, through bank transfer, to the account identified by the scholarship holder.

. ACTIVITY SCHEME: Exclusivity, in accordance with applicable legislation.

. EVALUATION PANEL: The jury responsible for applications evaluation will be constituted by Ph
D Professors.

. APPLICATION DEADLINE: 18 September 2025 to 01 October 2025

. SELECTION METHOD AND EVALUATION CRITERIA: The evaluation will be made through curriculum analysis and possible interview, focusing on merit, and weighted as follows: c) Professional/Academic Experience (PAE); d) Specific knowledge (SK): Knowledge of physiotherapeutic clinical movement analysis and knowledge of biomaterials applied to health. Objective criteria include points for each item and a final formula to obtain FG.

OBSERVATION: If foreign qualifications are not presented, the jury defines a conversion for application purposes based on applicable rules; otherwise a minimal classification may apply.

. ELIGIBILITY OF CANDIDATES: National citizens or citizens of other EU member states;
- party states citizens; stateless persons; beneficiaries of political refugee status.

• Document proving ownership of academic degree(s) and/or required diploma(s); for foreign qualifications, proof in accordance with Decree-law no. 66/2018; if not possible, a declaration of honour may be used in the application phase.
• Document proving enrolment/registration in the study cycle (optional at application, mandatory when contracting).

• Documents supporting other evaluation parameters;
• Other certifications or documents considered relevant by the candidate.

. RESULTS | DISCLOSURE AND COMPLAINTS: The jury will publish provisional results within 90 working days after the deadline. Candidates have 10 working days to respond; final decision within 60 working days after the hearing, with a 15 working day window for complaints.
