Offer Description

SCIENTIFIC AREA: Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering.

RECIPIENTS: Graduates in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or Materials Engineering who are Master’s students in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or Materials Engineering or who are enrolled in courses that do not confer an academic degree, in association with a Research Unit (UI).

DURATION: 12 months, eventually renewable until the end of the project or the maximum duration for this research fellowship type. The fellowship is due to start in 10/2025.

WORK PLAN:

• Definition of requirements and technical specifications
• Material selection and characterization
• Prototype construction
• Testing and trials
• Disclosure, promotion, and dissemination of results

WORKPLACE AND SCIENTIFIC SUPERVISION: The work will be developed at the Centre for Rapid and Sustained Product Development from the Polytechnic of Leiria (CDRSP-PLeiria), under the supervision of Ph
D professor Florindo José Mendes Gaspar.

GRANT FINANCIAL COMPONENTS: Monthly maintenance subsidy, in the amount of € 1040, 98 according to the FCT, I. P. (https://www.fct. pt/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Tabela_valores_SMM_2025. pdf). To this amount is added the monthly amount referring to the Voluntary Social Security, if applicable, in accordance with the conditions defined in the Statute of Research Fellows. The scholarship holder will benefit from Personal Accident Insurance during the course of the scholarship.

PAYMENT: The maintenance stipend will be monthly processed, through bank transfer, to the account identified by the research fellow.

ACTIVITY SCHEME: Exclusivity, according to the applicable legislation.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: September 17, 2025 to September 30, 2025.

SELECTION METHOD AND EVALUATION CRITERIA: The evaluation will be made through curriculum analysis and possible interview, focusing on merit with the following weighting:

• a) Academic Qualification (AQ): final grade of bachelor's degree
• b) Professional/Academic Experience (PAE): ranges from 2 to 20 points based on experience
• c) Specific knowledge (SK): knowledge in additive manufacturing, 3D printing of ceramic pastes, product design, materials processing, and mechanical/physical characterization of ceramic materials

Final grade FG = [AQ*0. 5 + PAE*0. 2 + SK*0. 3]. If the jury uses reasoned deliberation, the top three may be invited for an interview (INT) with FG adjusted as FG = [FG*0. 8 + INT*0. 2].

OBSERVATION: If candidates with foreign qualifications do not present recognition of degree and foreign diploma, the jury will apply conversion rules or the minimal classification of 10 points for application purposes.

ELIGIBILITY OF CANDIDATES: Without prejudice to applicable rules, candidates may be national citizens, EU citizens,
- country nationals, stateless persons, or beneficiaries of political refugee status.

• Documents proving ownership of academic degree(s) and/or required diploma(s) (final average and curricular units’ classification). Candidates with foreign qualifications must prove their degree and foreign diploma according to Decree-law no. 66/2018 (or provide a declaration of honour; verification occurs at contract signing).
• Document proving enrolment/registration in the study cycle or
  - awarding degree course (optional at application, mandatory when contracting).
• Updated candidate Curriculum Vitae.
• Documents supporting other evaluation parameters indicated in the announcement.
• Other certifications and/or documents considered relevant by the candidate.

RESULTS | DISCLOSURE AND COMPLAINTS: Provisional results will be sent by email within 90 working days after the deadline. Candidates have 10 working days to respond. Final decision within 60 working days after the hearing; complaints may be filed within 15 working days. An internal recruitment reserve may be created if more candidates are approved than positions available.
