This role encompasses all aspects of product security, including feature development, vulnerability response, and open source community participation. The position involves interaction with multiple teams, customers, and partners.

What you'll do

• Define, implement, and document new security features
• Lead
  - oriented thinking in engineering teams
• Analyze, fix, and test vulnerabilities
• Contribute to Ubuntu and upstream projects
• Audit source code for vulnerabilities
• Integrate new security tools and achieve security certifications
• Enhance cryptographic components for compliance
• Work with external partners on security benchmarks
• Design and develop Ubuntu hardening automation
• Monitor industry security developments
• Develop and maintain security software
• Support other engineering teams

What we are looking for

• Strong academic background in STEM or equivalent experience
• Understanding of security vulnerabilities and modern engineering techniques
• Familiarity with open source tools and programming languages like C, Python, Go, Rust, Java, Ruby, PHP
• Experience as a security champion and with Linux (Debian/Ubuntu)
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and motivation

Optional skills

• Experience with Linux Kernel, security certifications, FIPS, CC, OVAL, cryptography APIs
• High learning ability and performance engineering experience
