Job Purpose:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance team in Portugal. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the full spectrum of accounting and tax compliance activities in accordance with Portuguese GAAP (SNC), while ensuring alignment with the policies and requirements of our US-based parent company. The successful candidate must have
- on experience with Primavera ERP, excellent knowledge of Portuguese accounting practices and tax legislation, and be fluent in English to collaborate with international stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting & Reporting

• Ensure accurate and timely
  - end and
  - end close processes.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure integrity of financial data.
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, provisions, and reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with SNC.
• Perform monthly reconciliations between SNC and US GAAP, ensuring accurate group reporting.
• Prepare adjusting journal entries required under US GAAP.
• Assist in preparation of monthly group reporting packages for consolidation.
• Supervise and support junior accountants, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Liaise with external auditors and prepare audit deliverables.

Tax Compliance

• Ensure full compliance with Portuguese tax obligations, including:
• Coordinate and prepare the submission of IES, SAF-T (PT), and Modelo 22.
• Monitor tax updates and changes in legislation, ensuring timely application.
• Liaise with tax advisors and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.

ERP & Systems

• Operate and manage daily accounting processes using Primavera ERP (Version 10).
• Support improvements and automation of accounting processes within Primavera.
• Maintain proper master data.

Internal Controls & Compliance

• Ensure adherence to internal control procedures and company policies.
• Contribute to SOX or other compliance initiatives.
• Support implementation and documentation of accounting processes and controls.

Other Duties

• Support budgeting and forecasting processes with actuals analysis and variance reporting.
• Assist in ad hoc finance projects and business initiatives.
• Collaborate effectively with
  - functional teams and global finance counterparts.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of professional accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of Portuguese accounting (SNC) and tax regulations.
• Hands-on experience with Primavera ERP is mandatory.
• Experience in preparing SAF-T, IES, Modelo 22, and VAT returns.
• Strong analytical and
  - solving skills.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written) – daily communication with international teams.
• Proficient in Excel and other MS Office tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in an international or multinational environment.
• Familiarity with US GAAP.
• Knowledge of internal controls and SOX compliance is a plus.
