Senior Android Engineer
Overview
Senior Android Engineer role at M-KOPA. We are looking for a very Senior Android Engineer to join our Retention engineering group, where we use the latest technologies and architectures to build solutions that support digital and financial inclusion for customers across operating markets. This is a fully remote role located within UTC -1 to UTC+3. Engineers work remotely from locations such as the UK, Europe and Africa. You will report to a Software Engineering Team Lead.
We deploy backend services multiple times per day and our Android applications are released on a
- weekly cycle. Our teams work in a
- organized, agile fashion using Azure Dev
Ops for work tracking and CI/CD.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain M-KOPA’s Customer Android application and key internal UI components as part of a
- functional team with Android and backend engineers and product managers. - Deliver software that scales with company and customer growth;
- dive user journeys using data and implement focused updates to address customer needs; improve application quality and coding standards. - Contribute to architecture decisions following clean architecture principles, unidirectional data flow, and modern Android tooling (Jetpack Compose).
- Work within a Dev
Ops culture, owning the full software lifecycle from inception through production to decommissioning, including supporting infrastructure. - Operate in a
- based development environment with emphasis on testing and observability as
- order concerns. - Collaborate in an environment that uses Kotlin for Android, Azure as the cloud provider, and Azure Kubernetes for microservices.
Qualifications and Expertise
- Extensive experience in Kotlin and Android app development with strong knowledge of clean architecture, testing, and unidirectional data flow (MVI).
- Experience with Dependency Injection, Feature Toggles, Docker, and Azure Dev
Ops. - Familiarity with modern Android development practices, continuous delivery, and building for scale in a large product environment.
