What will be your role

We are looking for a Senior Backend/AI Engineer to help build intelligent, AI-powered features that redefine how sales and support teams communicate and operate.

You’ll be working on a project for one of our international clients in the customer communications and intelligence sector — a
- moving environment where voice, digital channels, and automation converge to create seamless customer experiences. This is a
- on,
- oriented role at the intersection of backend systems and applied artificial intelligence.

You’ll collaborate closely with software engineers, AI specialists, and platform teams to design and deliver reliable, secure, and scalable features that bring generative AI into
- world business applications.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Participating in requirements analysis to design backend and AI-powered solutions aligned with product and business goals
• Designing and implementing robust backend systems that serve intelligent features in real time
• Integrating large language models (LLMs) such as GPT, Claude, Mistral, or Llama into production applications
• Applying frameworks like Lang
  Chain, Llama
  Index, or Auto
  Gen to build conversational agents, virtual assistants, and smart automation tools
• Building retrieval pipelines (e. g. , RAG) to enrich model context and improve response accuracy
• Developing scalable APIs and microservices that embed AI capabilities into enterprise communication platforms
• Collaborating with MLOps, Dev
  Ops, and data engineering teams to ensure observability, scalability, and continuous improvement
• Participating in live system monitoring and
  - call rotations to maintain system reliability and performance
• Mentoring team members and promoting best practices in backend engineering and AI integration

What should you bring to the team

• Solid experience (5+ years) in backend software development, ideally using Python, Node. js, or similar
• Exposure to applied AI concepts and a strong interest in building
  - world AI-powered features
• Proficiency in Python for API development and AI/data integration
• Experience with cloud platforms (ideally Azure) and familiarity with services like Azure Open
  AI, Functions, and ML
• Working knowledge of LLMs and Gen
  AI frameworks (e. g. , Lang
  Chain, Llama
  Index, Semantic Kernel)
• Comfort with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), and scalable microservice architectures
• Proven ability to deliver robust,
  - grade systems with measurable business value
• Awareness of AI evaluation methods, prompt design, and safe deployment practices
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• A practical mindset — focused on delivering value, learning fast, and iterating with purpose
• Fluent in Portugueses and English is mandatory
• Availability to work in a hybrid model in Lisbon
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to listen, influence, and foster change collaboratively
