Senior Backend Developer

Key Responsibilities
- Data Integration & Transformation: Oversee the ingestion and harmonization of diverse data sources, ensuring reliability, consistency, and performance.
- ETL & Orchestration: Build, maintain, and optimize ETL/ELT processes with a focus on scalability, modularity, and reusability.
- Database Engineering: Design and manage
- performance data warehouses and
- series databases (e. g. , Timescale
DB, Postgre
SQL, My
SQL). - Quality & Governance: Implement automated data validation, quality checks, and monitoring systems to ensure integrity across the data lifecycle.
- API Integration: Develop and maintain interfaces for seamless data access and integration with internal and external systems.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product, analytics, and machine learning teams to understand business needs and translate them into data solutions.
- Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Promote best practices through comprehensive documentation and mentorship of junior engineers.
Requirements
- Hold a BSc, MSc, or Ph
D in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or Systems Engineering. - 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience with data pipelines design and orchestration (Prefect, Nomad, Air
Flow. . . ), ideally with
- series data. - Proficiency in programming languages, mainly Python and SQL, and experience with OOP and Git.
- Experience managing and manipulating relational databases; knowledge about
- relational databases is a plus. - Strong knowledge of ETL processes and data warehousing.
- Excellent
- solving and analytical skills combined with strong communication abilities. - Proven ability to work collaboratively while maintaining meticulous attention to detail, ensuring data quality and team success.
- Live in Portugal and speak fluent Portuguese.
Nice To Have
- Experience with Go, DBT, or Bash scripting.
- Previous work with ML Ops or machine learning pipelines.
- Dev
Ops Collaboration: Contribute to CI/CD processes and containerization (e. g. , Docker) to support robust and agile data delivery. - Data Architecture: Contribute to implementation of robust data architectures and pipelines that support
- time and batch processing of wind and solar datasets. - Exposure to cloud platforms (e. g. , AWS, GCP, Azure) and comfort to work on prem.
- Understanding of big data frameworks and tools.
