Role: Senior Backend Engineer

Location: Remote, Portugal

Required skills

• 6+ years of hands‑on backend development experience with production systems
• Significant experience building financial applications (fintech, banking, payments, trading platforms, or investment systems)
• Strong Test‑Driven Development (TDD) practices you write tests first and maintain comprehensive coverage
• Solid understanding of Domain‑Driven Design (DDD) principles to model complex business domains effectively
• Experience with cloud architecture, particularly AWS serverless and managed services (Lambda, RDS, Cognito)
• Proficiency in database design, especially Postgre
  SQL, including schema design and performance optimization
• Proven experience in building secure REST APIs with authentication and authorization mechanisms
• Strong proficiency in Type
  Script and Node. js for production‑grade systems
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills
• Startup mentality comfortable with ambiguity, proactive, and able to work autonomously

Nice to have

• Experience with multi‑currency systems or investment platforms
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Cloud
  Formation)
• Experience with event‑driven architectures and message queues
• Understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks (e. g. , KYC/AML)
• Knowledge of financial modeling or accounting principles
• Arabic language skills or experience with RTL/internationalization

Tasks

• Design and build scalable backend services and APIs using Type
  Script/Node. js
• Architect data models and implement complex financial business logic
• Practice Test‑Driven Development and maintain high test coverage
• Apply Domain‑Driven Design principles to accurately model financial domains
• Own AWS infrastructure decisions and implementation (Lambda, RDS, Cognito)
• Design and optimize Postgre
  SQL databases and data models
• Build secure REST APIs with proper authentication and authorization
• Take initiative on technical decisions that impact product direction
• Collaborate directly with product and business stakeholders
• Debug production issues, optimize performance, and ensure system reliability
