Overview

1. Good interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of management both inside JAC Products and outside in supplier company organizations.

2. Attain a level of product and/or commodity knowledge and attain a level of awareness of supplier operations as they pertain to the company. Travel will be required (approximately 20 percent) to various supplier locations.

Responsibilities

• Professionally resolve problems (both internal and external) in a fair and ethical manner.
• Participate in Program management reviews to support new program launches.
• Represent Purchasing on various functional teams.
• Responsible for sourcing qualified suppliers in support of program needs, purchase order issuance and administration, and ongoing monitoring and development of suppliers.
• Maintain current and develop new suppliers of purchased parts.
• Implement cost avoidance and cost reduction plans.
• Control the cost of purchased materials within budget and generate cost reduction action plans.
• Responsible for controlling costs of purchased materials through use of cost targets, negotiations, market tests, make/buy proposals, design and/or process changes, and material substitutions.
• Develop and implement cost reduction program through vendor, material, contract reviews.
• Market test purchased parts to ensure that most effective buying is implemented.
• Must be a starter able to work without close supervision.
• Support plant personnel as needed in material outage situations.

Preferred Education & Experience

• Internship to 5 years purchasing experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.
• Experience in Plastic Injection and Aluminium areas
