Senior Compliance Officer

Key Responsibilities
- Manage AML risks related to the referral of client relationships to group entities (second line of defense).
- Act as the main contact person with local AML/CFT authorities.
- Provide compliance and legal support on regulatory topics (Mi
FID II, CRS, FATCA) and ensure compliance with local legal obligations. - Perform AML/KYC due diligence for new business relationships and new accounts of existing clients.
- Review AML/KYC documentation with a focus on PEP, SHRC, and complex accounts.
- Analyze client files from a KYC perspective, assess risks, and define mitigating measures.
- Draft and update local procedures and directives in line with both local rules and
- wide directives. - Assess tax compliance of referred business relationships.
- Provide AML/CFT guidance and training to branch employees, in collaboration with the Head Office when required.
- Prepare and submit Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) to the FIU and escalate issues to the Chief Compliance Officer.

- office teams on client onboarding. - Respond to regulatory requests (regulator, FIU, etc. ) and provide data securely and efficiently.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with local legal and regulatory obligations, including standard reporting and ad hoc requests.
- Address any other legal matters related to the branch’s operations.
Skills & Experience
- Master’s degree in Law.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in AML/KYC.
- In-depth knowledge of Portuguese regulatory legislation, with a focus on AML.
- Fluency in Portuguese and English.
- Strong autonomy, attention to detail, and analytical skills.
- Ability to handle complex issues with flexibility and resilience.
- Discretion, diplomacy, and excellent communication skills.
