Senior Construction Manager- Data Centres
Job Description
The Senior Construction Manager – Data Centres role at Turner & Townsend is a site‑based position based in Portugal, focusing on quality assurance and control for construction contractors within the Data Centre sector.

Responsibilities
- Develop and manage governance, communication, and management control systems for the proper conduct and assured delivery of client services and works.
- Review organisational structures of parties and recommend alignment measures.
- Manage interface between contractors.
- Monitor overall team performance and initiate safety or performance improvement measures.
- Audit compliance with management system requirements and report as required.
- Engage in Project Risk Management to identify and drive mitigation activities.
- Conduct weekly technical and progress meetings.
- Manage client stage gateway reviews and attainment of conditions precedent to approvals.
- Ensure design stage deliverables meet schedule and quality, coordinating with fast‑track procurement and permitting requirements.
- Lead daily site progress reviews, assessing HSE, logistics, and programme status.
- Produce formal progress reports against baseline and milestone dates, and project‑wide KPIs.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, and ad‑hoc reports and presentations for the Employer’s representative.
- Administer contracts to protect client interests.
- Issue invoices and receipts on time in line with the agreed contract.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of construction experience in a Data Centre or similar technical environment.
- University degree in engineering or construction‑related field.
- Excellent written, verbal, and analytical skills.
- Self‑directed, collaborative, and able to work effectively with internal and external resources.
- Leadership experience.
- Commercial awareness and financial management familiarity for project tracking and forecasting.
- Strong understanding of contract documents, specifications, project plans, and related documents.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft 365 and construction project management software.
- Basic knowledge of construction estimation and financial documents (payment applications, change orders).
- Highly motivated self‑starter.
- Ability to multi‑task, prioritise, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Availability for on‑site work.
