Job Summary
The
Senior Data & BI Engineer
will play a pivotal role in building and scaling
Allia Health Group’s
data and analytics capabilities. Reporting initially to the CTO and later transitioning to the Director of Data & BI, this role focuses on designing, developing, and optimizing data pipelines and business intelligence solutions. The successful candidate will ensure data is accurate, secure, and accessible to support
- driven decisions across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines
Develop and optimize data warehouse structures and data models to support reporting and analytics
Deliver
- quality dashboards and BI solutions that enable actionable insights across business functions
Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements and ensure alignment with strategic objectives
Implement and enforce data quality, validation, and monitoring processes
Contribute to the evolution of Allia’s modern data stack in Google Cloud
Mentor junior engineers and actively participate in code reviews and technical design discussions
Required Qualifications
Ideal Degree(s): BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
Experience: 4–7 years in similar roles within data engineering and BI environments
• Must-Have:
Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (Python or equivalent)
Strong experience with ETL/ELT processes and orchestration tools (e. g. , dbt, Airflow)
Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms (Google Big
Query preferred; AWS/Azure acceptable)
Expertise in relational and analytical database design and optimization
Experience developing dashboards and analytics in BI tools (Looker strongly preferred)
Familiarity with data governance, security practices, and compliance requirements
Solid understanding of software development best practices including testing, version control, and CI/CD
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred: Google Cloud; Looker; Vertex AI; Ui
Path; N8N; CI/CD with Git
Hub & Google Cloud; React; Postgre
SQL; Docker; Kubernetes; and other
- adjacent tools. Candidates with AWS experience are welcome but Google Cloud is preferred

Working in Madeira in a shared office space, remote in Portugal, or remote in a Portuguese time

Flexibility to shift portions of the day to increase time zone overlap with US CST time zone
