We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer with deep expertise in dbt Core and the Azure data ecosystem for a
- term outsourced engagement. The professional in this role will operate between Business Intelligence and Data Engineering teams, providing architectural guidance, defining transformation standards, and leading the implementation of scalable data models and pipelines. This position requires a high level of autonomy, technical rigor, and senior experience with modern data transformation frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Architect, configure, and maintain dbt Core projects, including model structure, testing frameworks, documentation standards, and CI/CD workflows.
• Lead migration efforts from existing transformation frameworks to dbt Core, ensuring stable, scalable, and maintainable outcomes.
• Collaborate closely with BI and Data Engineering teams to define and implement transformation logic aligned with architectural requirements.
• Assess current data workflows and contribute to the design of modern, efficient, and modular data architectures within Azure.
• Develop and optimize ELT/ETL pipelines using Azure-native services such as Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric and ADLS.
• Ensure
  - quality data outputs through robust testing, version control practices, and automated validation.
• Integrate transformation layers and data pipelines into CI/CD processes, ensuring repeatability and operational reliability.
• Provide
  - level guidance on dbt Core best practices, modeling patterns, governance, naming conventions, orchestration, and deployment strategies.
• Produce detailed technical documentation for data models, processes, and architectural decisions.

Requirements

• Proven
  - level experience in Data Engineering, with strong architectural thinking and
  - on delivery across modern data stacks.
• Expert proficiency with dbt Core, including complex model design, testing strategies, environment setup, and production deployment.
• Deep practical experience with Azure data services (ADF, Fabric, Databricks, ADLS, Functions, or related components).
• Strong command of T-SQL and advanced experience with Python for data engineering workflows.
• Solid understanding of data modeling techniques, ELT/ETL patterns, transformation orchestration, and pipeline optimization.
• Ability to work effectively between BI and Data Engineering teams, ensuring alignment of reporting logic with underlying data architecture.
• Capability to guide architectural decisions, enforce standards, and support teams through modernization initiatives.
• Strong technical communication skills for documenting and articulating solutions and engineering decisions.
