Senior Data Engineer - Business Intelligence (m/f)

Pestana Hotel Group, the largest multinational hotel group of Portuguese origin, seeks a Senior Data Engineer for its Business Intelligence (BI) team in Lisbon, Portugal. The team mission is to provide data‑driven insights and support to help the organization make informed decisions, improve performance, and achieve strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and architectures.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
• Optimize and improve existing data systems for better performance and reliability.
• Implement data governance and security measures to ensure data integrity and compliance.
• Develop and maintain ETL processes to ingest and transform data from various sources.
• Create and manage data models, databases, and data warehouses.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies in data engineering and architecture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Data Engineer or Data Architect.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases.
• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or similar.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
• Experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing.
• Familiarity with data governance and security best practices.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
