S solutions, collaborating with top firms worldwide in industries such as accounting, consulting, investment banking, legal, private capital, and real assets.

They’re looking for a Senior Database Engineer to join their growing team at a new R&D centre in Lisbon. In this role, you’ll focus on implementing, configuring, maintaining, and optimising SQL Server systems—making sure they’re secure, reliable, and performing at their best.

Key Responsibilities

• SQL Server Configuration & Maintenance :
  
  Set up and maintain SQL Server instances and databases to ensure reliability.
• System Health Monitoring :
  
  Proactively monitor system performance and health to identify and address potential issues.
• Ensure System Reliability :
  
  Maintain high levels of performance, availability, sustainability, and security for databases.
• Real-Time Issue Resolution :
  
  Analyse, troubleshoot, and resolve database issues promptly.
• Provide Solutions :
  
  Offer suggestions for improvements and implement solutions to enhance database performance.
• Automation & Documentation :
  
  Refine and automate regular processes, track and resolve issues, and document changes thoroughly.
• Optimise SQL Queries :
  
  Check and
  - tune SQL queries to improve efficiency and speed.
• Support Developers :
  
  Assist developers with query tuning and schema refinement for optimised database performance.
• Communication:
  
  Troubleshoot issues, communicate clearly, handle administrative tasks efficiently, suggest improvements, and implement solutions to enhance database performance.
• On-Call Support & After-Hours Maintenance:
  
  Be available for emergency support as needed and perform regular maintenance, including supporting release deployments after hours.

What You Bring

• SQL Server DBA:
  
  Extensive experience in managing and maintaining SQL Server databases.
• High Availability & Disaster Recovery:
  
  Hands-on experience with High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions for SQL Servers.
• Cloud Experience:
  
  Proficient with Microsoft Azure environments.
• Always
  On Expertise:
  
  Strong knowledge of SQL Server Always
  On.
• Performance Tuning:
  
  Skilled in optimising SQL Server performance.
• Backup & Recovery:
  
  Proficient in handling backups, restores, and recovery models.
• Analytical Databases:
  
  Experience with platforms like Snowflake.
• Scripting Skills:
  
  Competent in Power
  Shell or Python for scripting and automation.
• Terraform:
  
  Hands-on experience using Terraform for infrastructure as code.
• Windows Server:
  
  Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and Windows Clustering.
