Senior Financial Accountant
We are seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to lead local finance operations and strengthen our Portuguese entity’s accounting, tax, and reporting activities in Lisbon’s local office.
What You'll Be Doing
- Take full ownership of all local financial activities including statutory bookkeeping, VAT and CIT declarations, year‑end financial statements, and compliance with all local accounting, tax and reporting obligations.
- Operate as our local finance lead, serving as the bridge between Portuguese accounting standards and our centralized group accounting team in the Netherlands. -
- Independently manage the Purchase‑to‑Pay process, ensuring all invoices and payments are processed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Take ownership of month‑end close activities for both the Portuguese entity and selected consolidated areas, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
- Support group‑level reporting, external audits, and consolidation activities in close collaboration with our Dutch‑based Accounting & Reporting team.
- Continuously improve finance processes, leveraging tools such as Workday, OCR, and AI‑driven automation technologies to enhance efficiency.
- Act as a key point of contact for local financial and tax authorities and liaise with external service providers when needed.
What Makes You the Perfect Fit
- A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance, obtained in Portugal.
- A minimum of 3‑4 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally in a role with exposure to local statutory and tax responsibilities.
- Certified Accountant (Contabilista Certificado) status or equivalent to legally sign off and file the Annual Financial Statements and the Corporate Income Tax (IRC) on behalf of a company.
- In‑depth knowledge of Portuguese GAAP and strong familiarity with tax legislation (VAT, CIT, etc. ). IFRS knowledge is a plus.
- A proactive and self‑driven attitude, with the ability to work independently while staying closely connected to the Dutch headquarters team.
- A strong personality with excellent communication skills, capable of collaborating across countries and departments.
- Comfort working in a dynamic, tech‑enabled environment with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Fluency in Portuguese and English is required.
