About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Backend SDET with strong Java backend development and coding expertise , complemented by a solid foundation in test automation and quality engineering . In this role, you will design and implement automation frameworks, build testable backend systems, and ensure the performance, scalability, and reliability of distributed platforms. You will collaborate closely with developers, architects, and product teams to embed quality into every stage of the development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement automation frameworks and tools for backend services and APIs.
• Contribute to backend development using Java and related technologies to build testable, maintainable services.
• Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts across microservices and distributed systems.
• Work closely with developers to ensure testability and code quality , driving
  - left testing practices.
• Define and execute test strategies for complex backend platforms.
• Integrate automation suites with CI/CD pipelines for continuous validation.
• Conduct performance, scalability, and load testing of backend services.
• Debug and analyze issues in distributed systems, identifying root causes and providing actionable insights.
• Mentor junior SDETs and QA engineers, fostering a culture of engineering excellence and
  - first mindset .

Required Skills & Experience

• 8–12 years of experience in software quality engineering or backend testing roles.
• Strong coding skills in Java (primary), with working knowledge of Kotlin or Python as an advantage.
• Hands-on experience with backend/API development and testing (REST and g
  RPC).
• Proficiency with automation frameworks such as JUnit, Test
  NG, Rest
  Assured, or Karate .
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture and distributed backend systems .
• Experience integrating test automation with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git
  Lab CI, or similar).
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Good understanding of databases (SQL/No
  SQL) for validation and test data setup.
• Experience with performance testing (JMeter, Gatling, or Locust).
• Strong analytical and debugging skills in backend systems.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across engineering teams.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience in fintech or
  - volume transaction systems .
• Familiarity with Kafka, MQ, or similar messaging systems .
• Knowledge of API security testing and best practices.
• Previous exposure to regulated financial domains .
