In this Position you will. . .
Lead the discipline of expert legal advice, representation, and strategic support on all matters relating to Portuguese labor and commercial law, while also acting as the Compliance Officer for Portugal. This includes ensuring adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies, managing compliance risks, and fostering a culture of ethical conduct across the organization for our Portuguese based companies –

You will be responsible for. . . .
Labour Law
- Advise management and HR on employment legislation and workplace policies.
- Monitor legislative changes and case law developments in employment law, recommending necessary adjustments to policies and practices.
- Collaborate with external counsel when required, ensuring cost‑effective and high‑quality legal support.
- Maintain accurate legal records, case files, and compliance documentation.
Commercial and Business/Corporate Law
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, including supply agreements, service contracts, distribution agreements, and NDAs.
- Advise on corporate governance, shareholder agreements, and compliance with the Portuguese Commercial Companies Code.
- Support M&A transactions, due diligence processes, and corporate restructuring.
- Manage
- litigation matters and coordinate with external counsel when necessary. - Support internal investigations and compliance audits
Compliance Officer Duties
- Develop, implement, and maintain the company's compliance program, policies, and procedures.
- Monitor and assess compliance risks, ensuring adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Support internal audits and investigations into potential compliance breaches.
- Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies and manage responses to inspections or inquiries.
- Prepare and present compliance reports to senior management and the Board.

Your qualifications and skills should match. . . .
- Law degree
from a recognized Portuguese university; - Registered with the
Ordem dos Advogados
(Portuguese Bar Association) - Minimum of
5 years´post-qualification experience
in labour, commercial and societary law, with proven exposure to compliance matters. - Specialized knowledge of
Portuguese labor and commercial law
. - Strong understanding of compliance principles
, corporate governance, and regulatory requirements. - Excellent legal drafting,
negotiation, and advocacy skills
. - Analytical and problem solving abilities
with a risk based approach - Ability to communicate complex and legal concepts
clearly to non specialists. - High ethical standards
, discretion, and professional integrity. - Native in Portuguese;
proficiency in English
(written and spoke) higly desirable.
