About the Role: The Senior Manager, Global Payroll at Deel is a unique and challenging management role in a highly complex global environment. The role is responsible for a region’s internal payroll and payments teams and works directly with product to influence our product roadmap for global payroll offerings on platform. This role leverages experience to deliver accurate
- time payroll while planning for and delivering at scale.
What You Will Do
- Responsible for accurate,
- time payroll processing for payroll and contractor payments within an assigned region in accordance with company policies, procedures, and local regulatory standards. - Responsible for the administration and delivery of

- end payroll operations and processing for the assigned region leveraging Deel global payroll as a managed payroll service provider. - Coordinates and delivers work to migrate and implement new legal entities into our payroll system of record.
- Responsible for overall operational effectiveness for the implementation of best practices, process reviews, automation and improvements across global and regional payroll as a member of the payroll leadership team.
- Responsible for hiring, managing, and developing our internal payroll team for the region, including performance, training, time zones, and growth opportunities.
- Manage payroll compliance and audits across assigned countries and ensure payroll cycles and deadlines are adhered to in accordance with regulations.
- Manage, oversee, and own audits, inquiries, and
- related matters in partnership with finance, tax, legal, and related teams. - Review and recommend areas for automation to reduce cycle time and costs in processing information, data and payments.
- Serve as the internal subject matter expert and process owner for
- related activities and inquiries. - Ensure accuracy of payroll financial information and compliance, including SOX and internal audit control requirements.
- Oversee internal ticketing systems and payroll inquiries.
- Analyze payroll metrics and develop scalable recommendations as payroll and payments scale from 5, 000 to 10, 000+ team members.
- Drive adoption of payroll tools, drive efficiency in payroll administration and reporting, and collaborate to build the payroll product for enterprise clients.
- Lead diligence and participate in acquisitions and migrations to ensure smooth implementation and user experience.
- Liaise with local and national government authorities and vendors as required.
- Lead change management with
- functional teams to implement new processes, tools, and technologies; provide training and ongoing support. - Other duties as assigned as the scope of People expands.
What You Will Bring
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in payroll processing, operations and management, with direct experience in a global, multinational company.
- Strong background in US federal, state and local payroll and taxation alongside international payroll experience in key countries (e. g. , United Kingdom, Spain, Netherlands, South Africa, Australia, Mexico, Brazil) or other complex jurisdictions.
- Experience in a
- growth,
- volume company and building from 0 to 1 and scaling from 1 to n. - Experience in payroll taxation and compliance, audits, and negotiations.
- Strong project management to build, manage, and iterate processes at scale.
- Experience in payroll product and services implementation and in process automation of global payroll practices.
- Experience managing a globally dispersed, remote team across countries/timezones to deliver accurate payroll and a great user experience.
- Experience in M&A due diligence and harmonization of payroll tools and practices.
- Experience with new country setups including entities, payroll requirements, and regulation.
- Passion for workflows, efficiency, and consistency with meticulous attention to detail and ability to manage multiple complex projects.
- Ability to align company needs with payroll best practices and craft tailored frameworks for growth.
- Discretion and sound judgment handling sensitive information.
