- efficient projects from design through to handover and beyond. We’re looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team of consultants at our Athlone Office. This is a permanent position with an excellent compensation package for the right candidate.
About the Role
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will bring strong technical expertise in MEP installations, design engineering, mentoring, project management, site inspections, and client relations.
Key Responsibilities
- Work alongside Project Directors to establish project requirements and deliverables.
- Implement successful Mechanical Design Solutions for projects in the commercial, healthcare, industrial, educational and residential sectors. Develop engineering strategies appropriate to the project requirements and client brief.
- Prepare detailed reports against agreed design briefs for each of the project stages and for project status updates.
- Prepare project mechanical budget estimates and manage project costs throughout the project, to include preparation of client cost reports related to mechanical installations.
- Plan deliverables on a weekly basis for Junior Engineers and Technicians to ensure project targets are achieved.
- Attend site meetings and carry out site inspections.
- Review Contractors Technical Submittals against project works requirements.
- Prepare detailed site reports and verify installations against agreed designs and technical submittals.
- Ensure mechancial engineering expertise and knowledge is disseminated, including providing mentorship to junior engineers.
- Work alongside other Project Design Engineers and Technicians to ensure designs are fully
- ordinated. - Work alongside Project Directors to manage client relationships.
- Represent the company at site and technical meetings.
- Develop BCAR inspection plans with designers and conduct inspections at key project stages.
- Monitor installation quality and project progress.
Ideal Candidate
- A minimum of 5 years’
- based design experience on commercial MEP projects. - A Level 8 Degree in Building Services Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. The qualification must be recognized for Chartership.
- Extensive knowledge of mechanical engineering related standards, guidance documents and building regulations, that are applicable within Ireland.
- Extensive knowledge of HVAC design, water services and public health drainage design.
- Extensive knowledge of mechanical engineering design software applications, Hevacomp, Auto CAD, Revit, Navis Works etc.
- Experience designing commercial mechanical projects and working within a design team on commercial building projects.
- Be proficient in report writing and in the use of Microsoft applications such as Word, Power
Point etc. - Have achieved Chartered Engineer status, or be in a position to demonstrate core competencies in order submit an application for Chartered Engineer status within the next 18 months.
