Job Description

Turner & Townsend are leaders in professional services to the Data Centre sector globally. Due to the continued success and expansion of our Data Centre business, we are recruiting an experienced, site‑based Senior MEP Project Manager to join our Data Centre team in Portugal. This position plans and conducts activities related to the quality assurance and quality control of multiple construction contractors, overseeing work to ensure industrial processes, materials and products meet required standards.

• Lead and coordinate MEP design and construction activities for data centre projects, ensuring alignment with project goals and client requirements
• Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure timely and cost‑effective project delivery
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including architects, engineers, and contractors, to resolve technical issues and optimise MEP system performance
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress, quality control, and compliance with safety standards
• Analyse and mitigate project risks, implementing proactive solutions to potential challenges
• Ensure compliance with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards for data centre construction
• Oversee the commissioning and testing of MEP systems, guaranteeing optimal performance and energy efficiency
• Prepare and present detailed project reports, including progress updates and financial forecasts, to senior management and stakeholders
• Implement and maintain best practices for sustainable and energy‑efficient data centre design and construction

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of experience in MEP project management within a data centre or similar technical environment
• Extensive knowledge of MEP systems, data centre infrastructure, energy efficiency strategies, and high‑voltage electrical substations
• Proficiency in project management software
• Strong understanding of Spanish building codes and regulations related to data centre construction
• Excellent budget management, risk assessment, and problem‑solving skills
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage diverse teams and stakeholders
• Highly motivated self‑starter
• Ability to multi‑task and identify priority activities
• Availability for on‑site work
