About the job
We seek a Senior Network Engineer for our brand in Portugal (PTisp). You'll manage our core network infrastructure across Portugal, including POP sites, interconnection, peering, and fibre backhaul to Data Centres. Your responsibilities include maintaining routing and switching layers that underpin our hosting products, ensuring 100% service availability, deploying resilient network configurations, troubleshooting faults promptly, and planning capacity proactively. Collaboration with Development and Support teams to resolve issues and improve systems is essential.
Requirements include 8–10 years in IT systems and at least 5 years in network engineering within the ISP sector. A technical degree is preferred. You should be proactive, capable of designing and expanding scalable networks, and experienced with multiple vendor equipment, working independently and in teams.
Main responsibilities:
- Support and maintain network hardware (Juniper, Arista, others), DWDM systems.
- Support and install Linux servers (Cent
 OS/Debian) supporting network infrastructure and provisioning systems.
- Ensure 24/7 uptime of systems and services.
- Monitor hardware health, troubleshoot faults, plan upgrades, and manage EOL/EOS.
- Design and scale network infrastructure, integrating new vendor equipment.
- Coordinate with vendors, support project delivery, and liaise with industry bodies on ISP policies.
- Manage IP allocations, policies, and RIPE relationships.
- Provide technical expertise, document solutions, and train staff.
- Participate in
 - call support and travel as needed.
- Drive improvements, updates, and new service development.
- Ensure health and safety compliance and stay current with IT technologies.
Required skills:
- Expertise in TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, Ethernet security, IPv6.
- Experience with Cisco or Juniper devices (IOS/Junos).
- Proficiency in Linux (Cent
 OS/Debian), x86 hardware, and data center practices.
- Knowledge of security, access control, change management, and configuration policies.
- CCNP or similar certification is desirable.
- Link aggregation (LACP), Net
 Flow/J-Flow.
- Experience with MPO cabling, trunk routes, and patching infrastructure.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and software update processes.
