The Flutter Functions Sportsbook & Trading team helps to drive the success and growth of some of the world’s best known sports betting brands, with over 400 colleagues working in roles across trading, operations, product, delivery, architecture and engineering, partnering closely with more than 1, 100 people in the wider global trading and sportsbook community at Flutter.
The Role
The Senior Portfolio & Planning Manager leads and grows the planning capability within Global Platforms, building a high‑performing team of Programme Managers and Planning Leads who are equipped to deliver complex, high‑value initiatives with consistency and impact. This role is accountable for developing and embedding the methods, frameworks, and governance needed to scale programmes up or down in response to strategic priorities and delivery capacity.
Working in close partnership with the Head of Delivery, Product Management, and senior stakeholders, you will ensure the planning function is a centre of excellence, one that combines clear role accountability, adaptive delivery models, and a relentless focus on value. You will foster a culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and professional growth, enabling the team to rapidly mobilise new programmes, optimise active ones, and effectively transition work post‑delivery.
What You’ll Be Doing
Team Leadership & Development
Lead and develop a high‑performing team of Programme Managers and Planning Leads, providing clear direction, coaching, and growth opportunities.
Drive role clarity and accountability across the planning function in line with the Global Platforms operating model.
Lead the definition and mobilisation of programmes, ensuring they are initiated only when they add clear strategic value.
Continuously assess and optimise programme delivery models and team structures to improve focus, alignment, and flow of value.
Develop transition strategies for post‑programme management, whether into value stream delivery or programme closure.
Portfolio Planning & Continuous Improvement
Accountable for the Global Platforms intake and planning cycle, ensuring initiatives are prioritised, sequenced, and resourced to maximise strategic value, delivery predictability, and portfolio return on investment.
Partner with Heads of Delivery to embed lightweight, data‑driven planning and reporting practices.
Accountable for programme transparency and reporting practices, connected with Value Stream operating models.
Stakeholder Engagement & Value Management
Act as a strategic partner to CIO, COO, and senior stakeholders, providing transparent, actionable insights on Delivery health, risks, and dependencies.
Partner with Product Management to champion value management, ensuring all initiatives have clearly defined outcomes, benefits, and measurement approaches.
Accountable for portfolio‑level transparency and reporting to CIO and COO leadership team, supporting alignment, governance, and decision‑making.
Champion value management for all Programmes, ensuring intended outcomes and benefits are clearly defined, tracked, and realised.
We’d Like You to Master In
- Proven experience in delivery leadership, transformation, or organisational change in complex, multi‑stream environments.
- Demonstrated ability to scale delivery practices and frameworks, adapting programmes up or down to meet strategic priorities and changing business needs.
- Strong knowledge of delivery methodologies (Agile, Lean, SAFe, or similar) and practical experience embedding them across teams and organisational contexts.
- Track record of building, coaching, and developing high‑performing teams of programme and planning professionals.
- Strong strategic leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to challenge the status quo and drive positive organisational change.
- Experience in portfolio‑level planning, reporting, and value management to ensure initiatives deliver measurable outcomes and align to organisational priorities.
