We’re creating tools that promote autonomy, foster trust, and let businesses focus on what truly matters.
Our culture is built on transparency, collaboration, and a deep commitment to innovation – which is reflected in our spending solution. At Pleo, you’ll join a passionate team shaping the future of work, all while having some fun along the way.
About The Role
As a Senior Product Manager for the Expense Core team (accounting platform), you will play a critical role in shaping the core transactional and accounting infrastructure that underpins Pleo's spend management solution. You will be the deep subject matter expert on accounting, transaction management, and external API capabilities, ensuring our platform is robust, scalable, and compliant.
You will own the product direction for the systems responsible for processing and managing payment transaction records, financial reconciliation, and the external availability of key accounting data via APIs. Working closely with engineering, finance, legal, and other product teams, you will translate complex technical and compliance requirements into a clear, prioritised product roadmap.
What you’ll be doing
- Bring deep subject‑matter expertise in accounting, with a strong focus on payment transaction records, reconciliation flows, and financial data management
- Understand API fundamentals - particularly the requirements for exposing APIs externally - and ensure the platform enables seamless integrations for customers and partners
- Incorporate compliance and regulatory considerations relevant to the Accounting Platform into product strategy, ensuring all decisions align with required standards
- Coordinate cross‑functional context gathering, working closely with Finance, Legal, and other Product teams to fully understand the scope of upcoming work. Act as the primary communication bridge between the Expense Core team and the wider business
- Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Expense Core team, ensuring clear direction and alignment with broader company goals
- Manage the product backlog, including detailed refinement and prioritisation of initiatives, ensuring alignment with long‑term objectives and business impact
- Act as a product‑side reviewer for technical changes, providing a sanity check on proposed engineering work, identifying downstream implications, and helping the team think through edge cases to prevent incidents
- Partner with the Engineering Manager to coordinate and prioritise the high volume of inbound requests from internal teams, ensuring clarity and efficient execution
- Collaborate closely with Engineering Leads to translate long‑term strategy into concrete deliverables and objectives. Drive execution through roadmap planning, sprint facilitation, and ongoing delivery oversight
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in a Product Management role focusing on core financial, accounting, or transactional platforms
- Deep subject‑matter expertise in accounting principles, particularly related to payment processing, transaction records, and financial reconciliation
- Strong practical understanding of API design, documentation, and externalisation
- Proven ability to work with legal and compliance teams to translate regulatory requirements into technical specifications
- A track record of making and validating impact hypotheses, translating complex platform work into tangible value for the business
- Comfortable owning the product strategy for a technical platform team
- Experience leading discovery, gathering user requirements, and translating them into user stories
- Worked with product‑engineering teams using Agile principles
Team and Reporting
You will work closely with Engineering Leads, and partner with stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Design, Finance, Revenue Operations, Legal, and Operations.
