Senior QA Automation Engineer (backend)

We are seeking a QA Automation Engineer to join our Checkout Platform team, focusing on building and scaling test automation for a critical system at the core of our business. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in complex backend environments and wants to grow into a position where they can set the technical direction for automation across multiple teams.
Responsibilities
- Drive the design, development, and maintenance of automated testing frameworks for a backend platform transitioning from a monolith to microservices;
- Build and evolve automation for APIs, integration points, and complex service interactions, ensuring reliability and scalability;
- Collaborate closely with backend engineers, QA, and product teams to define testing strategies and quality standards;
- Take ownership of integration testing where services interact with external systems, identifying and resolving issues early;
- Create and maintain documentation and best practices for automation, raising the overall maturity of QA processes across the platform;
- Act as a technical driver for automation within the team, with potential to expand into functional leadership across multiple teams in the future.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of QA experience, with at least 2 years focused on automation in backend systems;
- Strong programming skills in Java, Python, or similar languages (knowledge of Go is a plus, but not required — we’ll support learning it on the job);
- Solid understanding and
- on experience with testing in a microservices architecture; - Proficiency in designing and implementing API and integration tests at scale;
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and test automation infrastructure;
- Strong analytical and
- solving skills for debugging complex backend integrations; - Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to quality and reliability.
- Experience in fintech,
- commerce, or
- scale transactional systems; - Exposure to distributed systems and
- load environments; - Prior involvement in mentoring or setting testing standards within a team.

Relocation: We offer remote work from anywhere in the world and are happy to work out an individual relocation plan for you.
Our employees have the opportunity to choose a country for registration: Armenia/Georgia/Serbia/Portugal/Spain.
We will help you open a legal entity and a bank account. In Armenia and Georgia the taxes are compensated by Tabby. In other countries we provide partial compensation of taxes.
We employ according to B2B contracts (service agreements).
