Senior Software Engineer – POS & Cash Systems Compliance (Portugal)

Location: Remote (Portugal-based)

Contract Type: Full-time

Language Requirements: English (B2 minimum), Portuguese (native)

About the Role

Our client, a European leader in fiscal middleware and POS system compliance, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their growing team in Portugal. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical expertise in C#/. NET , a passion for building scalable solutions, and experience working directly with clients in the retail or hospitality sectors , particularly around cash register systems and POS integration.

You will contribute to the development of software that ensures compliance with the Portuguese fiscal laws , including SAF-T and standards compliant to the Autoridade Tributaria.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain. NET-based middleware and POS/cash system integration solutions.

Collaborate with product and compliance teams to implement features aligned with French fiscal regulations.

Interface with clients to understand technical requirements and provide integration support.

Participate in certification processes to meet AT standards.

Write clean, maintainable code and contribute to architectural decisions. Tech Stack & Skills

Languages & Frameworks: ideally C#, . NET Core, ASP. NET

Tools: Git, Docker, REST APIs, Azure or AWS

Experience with: POS systems and cash register software

Fiscalization compliance

Middleware development and system integration

Soft Skills:

Strong communication and
- facing experience

Ability to work independently and in distributed teams

Fluent English (B2+); Portuguese native

Ideal Candidate

5+ years of experience in software engineering, ideally in retail tech or fiscal systems.

Proven track record of working with cash systems and understanding of French fiscal law.

Proficiency in C# and Cloud infrastructure

Comfortable engaging with clients and certification bodies.

Based in Portugal and be able to work without any restrictions.
