The Work You'll Do:
>As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will provide-
- end technical leadership for all technologies and systems within the systems engineering domain at Sovos. This role will lead and assist the team and department with technology decisions,
- term architectural design, system compliance solutions, and participate in or lead project teams that implement system technologies. You will actively participate in inter/intra team collaboration and deliver relevant technology presentations and business cases to appropriate governance and leadership boards.
This role ensures the system design and requirements are aligned to achieve the desired business outcomes, and that team practices and coding/quality principles are aligned to achieve the desired technology outcomes. You will mentor others on system engineering best practices, techniques, review and develop plans for hardening system standards, and lead automation efforts for systems engineering deployments. This position is a lead for others by exemplifying technical excellence, inclusiveness, teamwork, and customer focus.
More specifically, you will:
- Perform triage and troubleshooting of
- related issues - Manage platforms by resolving incidents and fulfilling change requests related to server technologies
- Assist with the deployment and automation of server architecture and management of systems including: UCS Blade Server virtualization, Domain Controllers, Purestorage, Net
App storage, NSX virtual networking, Rubrik backup, Comm
Vault backup, Prometheus, Grafana, Automox, and Terraform - Perform a variety of engineering tasks around system design, implementation, integration, and optimization within a technology environment
- Utilize systems expertise and knowledge of software, hardware, networks, and storage to work across the business with architecture, product development, systems administration, DBAs, and engineering to support business needs and

- end technical solutions - Utilize JIRA service management platform for work intake, fulfillment, and CAB updates
- Leverage industry best practices to support, assess, test, and implement new and existing
- tier solutions in multiple sites and data centers - Create, maintain, and archive
- level design documents and detailed engineering specifications based upon business and user requirements, including high availability design diagrams, scalability design diagrams, capacity models, logical and physical network diagrams, storage layout diagrams, and disaster recovery documentation - Write and revise operations documentation, including providing required input into operations and internal troubleshooting guidelines
- Lead automation efforts to standardize deployments using best practices
- Participate in server design walkthroughs and planning
What We Need From You
- 5-10 years' experience working in an IT environment
- 5+ years' experience in server design and virtualization
- 5+ years' experience with storage and backup solutions
- Solid understanding of basic hardware and infrastructure components.
- Ability to work with diverse technologies across storage, networking, security, and virtualization.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and backup solutions.
- Familiarity with development of Saa
S applications and
- tier architectures - Ability in advanced troubleshooting and design tasks related to highly complex enterprise architecture
- Expertise in managing server, storage, network, and backup solutions
- Strong understanding of computer systems characteristics, features, and integration capabilities
- Exceptional analytical and
- solving abilities - Understanding of networking concepts including routing, firewalling, ACLs, and NSX virtual deployments
- Highly responsible, motivated team player with the ability to set and manage priorities judiciously
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with expert attention to detail
- Ability to produce clean, concise diagrams and documentation
- Ability to comprehend and communicate complex concepts
- Minimal travel required to Sovos locations or events
- Due to client contractual obligations, the successful candidate will be asked to clear a background check upon hire
