Finastra is seeking a Technical Writer with 7-8 years of experience in technical writing with excellent verbal and written English communication skills. This role is responsible for designing and writing documentation and preparing other training collaterals for our products. The successful candidate must develop extensive knowledge of the company's products, processes, and customer goals. Must be an abstract and creative thinker, capable of learning and summarizing complex concepts and issues. Must be highly organized and effective in both written and verbal communication.
As a Senior Technical Writer, you will work as an individual contributor as part of the Universal Banking Enterprise Documentation team. This role reports to the Manager – Documentation and will mentor other technical documentation writers for the documentation and content aspects. Our Universal Banking Enterprise suite of products covers all aspects of banking, from retail to corporate to universal, with features such as Digital to the Core, Open APIs, and platform. These solutions cater to Banks and Financial Institutions across multiple segments, tiers, and sizes.
Responsibilities As a member of the Documentation team, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Research, develop, write, and maintain
- quality product documentation and collaterals for the target audience, in collaboration with development teams, product managers, and business centers. - Develop and maintain
- friendly UI guides, Online Help, Implementation and Configuration Manuals, Procedure Manuals, process documentation, Release Notes, and other collateral. - Prepare content in alternative media (e. g. , Power
Point presentations, videos) to supplement documentation. - Mentor other documentation team members on best practices, standard formats, processes, and
- related aspects. - Research and evaluate emerging tools and techniques for documentation management and adopt them in deliverables.
- Learn the product functionality through discussion with subject matter experts,
- on use, and experimentation.
Required Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- 7-8 years of technical documentation experience with a portfolio that demonstrates excellent writing skills, preferably in financial industry domains.
- Experience in a product development organization using Agile methodology is preferred.
- Ability to take independent ownership of product documentation, including the development and maintenance of repositories of reference materials.
- Collaboration with Product Owners to build knowledge bases/repositories as input to Gen AI tools for quick turnaround on queries.
- Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle and documentation templates.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills;
- oriented and able to work well in a team. - Ability to quickly understand technical and functional concepts and present them as clear, structured documents.
- Ability to manage multiple documentation tasks or modules simultaneously, meeting deadlines and maintaining quality.
- Evaluate current content and improve it using latest tools and techniques.
Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science or Computer Applications, or English/Publishing/Content Management with relevant industry experience.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Word, Power
Point, Adobe Acrobat) and experience with Madcap Flare. - Experience using Microsoft Manual of Style, Jira, and Confluence.
- Experience with XML tooling for documentation is preferred.
- Experience with Gen AI tools in technical writing is an added advantage.
- Certification through the Society for Technical Communicators or proven relevant industry experience.
