The Company

Our client is a European GMP‑certified indoor cannabis cultivation and pharmaceutical manufacturing company based in Porto, Portugal. The organisation is dedicated to producing
- quality medical cannabis products in strict compliance with pharmaceutical standards to support patients and the broader medical community. They focus on scientific excellence, innovative drug formulation, and advanced delivery methods, collaborating with clinical experts and research partners to develop effective, safe therapies.


Mission

Ensure the optimal performance of the production site to satisfy internal and external customers. Deliver project milestones on time and within budget, while ensuring the development and growth of employees under your responsibility.


Main Activities & Responsibilities

Factory Management

  • Supply Chain: Establish production schedules in line with customer requirements and in collaboration with other departments. Manage internal and external logistics.
  • Production: Ensure workforce adherence to defined processes to achieve quality, timing, and cost targets.
  • Human Resources: Implement company HR policies as defined by the Board and ensure compliance with local legal requirements.
  • Safety: Ensure a safe working environment with a “Zero Tolerance” mindset.


Project Management (PMO)

  • Manage the Plant Capacity Expansion Project:
  • Build and monitor project milestones with Board Members through the project governance process.
  • Coordinate activities with all departments, subcontractors, and administration.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements (administrative and physical).


Good Practices

  • Ensure adherence to GMP processes and promote continuous improvement.
  • Monitor the Factory Dashboard driven by KPIs and develop action plans to close gaps vs. targets.
  • Lead factory production meetings and project capacity expansion meetings to ensure daily objectives are met.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing principles to improve employee working conditions and factory productivity.


Strategy

  • Contribute to the establishment of the site budget and resource requirements for project delivery.
  • Benchmark roles and ensure the competitiveness of professions under your responsibility.


Quality, Safety, and Environment

  • Ensure the safety of all personnel
    - site.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and quality requirements related to cannabis production.
  • Lead social dialogue with employees
    - site.


Management & HR

  • Lead employees under your responsibility.
  • Ensure people development policies defined by the Board are implemented
    - site


Budget & Finance

  • Contribute to budget creation and monitor the factory budget.
  • Propose and implement investment programs to maintain and improve factory efficiency.


Operational Scope & Budget (2026)

  • Workforce: ~20 employees in 2026 (scaling to 150 by 2029)
  • Plant budget: €1M production cost in 2026 (scaling to €9M by 2029)
  • Capacity Expansion Project Cap
    Ex: €12. 7M


Core Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years in industrial/agro-industry production management with leadership and site management experience.
  • Skilled in workforce, HR, daily production, and KPI/dashboard management.
  • Strong project management, including capacity expansion.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, EHS, GMP, and compliance.
  • Experience with living material production.
  • Fluent in English.
