Software Development Engineer - Test I
Overview
Software Development Engineer - Test I role within the AI & Data Science (AI&D) - Enterprise Automation organization at AMGEN Capability Center Portugal. The position focuses on
- generation capabilities and services in Applied AI & Automation using COTS products,
- source software, frameworks, tools, and cloud computing services. The role emphasizes quality, compliance, and performance across Amgen’s Applied AI & Automation footprint in a Gx
P-regulated environment.
What You Will Do
Role Description: join a fun, innovative engineering team and contribute to testing for enterprise automation solutions. You will work with product owners, developers, and QA teams to validate systems against business and regulatory requirements, ensuring performance, security, and compliance across the development lifecycle.
- Build out test engineering practices, standards, and lead by execution to foster a culture around test automation.
- Design, develop and maintain automated and manual test cases based on functional and
- functional requirements. - Perform responsibilities in compliance with Gx
P and CSV regulations, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to regulatory standards. - Create and maintain the Requirement Traceability Matrix (RTM) for full test coverage.
- Log, track and manage defects using tools such as HP ALM or JIRA, ensuring clear documentation and traceability.
- Assist in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with business stakeholders.
- Execute tests including Systems Integration Testing (SIT), Operational Qualification (OQ), and regression testing.
- Execute test scripts provided by analysts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Collaborate with developers to ensure bugs are addressed and resolved effectively.
- Support automation testing by building and maintaining scripts in Ui
Path Test Suite, Selenium, or similar tools. - Maintain detailed documentation of test cycles to support audit readiness and compliance.
What We Expect Of You
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 0 to 3 years of Computer Science, IT or related field experience
- OR
- Diploma and 4 to 7 years of Computer Science, IT or related field experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in application testing and automation frameworks
Must-Have Skills:
- Strong experience in designing and executing both manual and automated test cases based on functional and
- functional requirements. - Strong knowledge of test lifecycle documentation including test plans, RTMs, OQ protocols, and summary reports
- Hands-on experience with Ui
Path Test Suite, Selenium, Postman, or similar tools. - Experience in validated (Gx
P) environments and with CSV practices
Good-to-Have Skills:
- Develop, enhance, and maintain test automation scripts using
- driven,
- driven, or hybrid frameworks for reusable, scalable coverage. - Proficient in creating test lifecycle documentation (RTMs, OQ protocols, test plans, reports) and

- end testing within regulated Gx
P and CSV-compliant systems. - Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and continuous testing practices
- Strong test design and
- solving skills - Familiarity with Jenkins, Git
Hub Actions, or similar tools for CI/CD integration - Experience collaborating with
- functional teams, especially in healthcare or pharmaceutical environments - Experience in handling product features for PI planning and developing product roadmaps and user journeys
- Ability to communicate complex topics in business terms
- Familiarity with Gx
P, CFR 21 Part 11 and systems validation
Professional Certifications:
- ISTQB Foundation or Advanced Level Certification (Optional but valuable)
- Certified CSV/Validation Professional (Optional but valuable)
- SAFe Agile Tester Certification (Optional but valuable)
