Software Development Trainee – Fault Management (4G/5G RAN)
Overview
Software Development Trainee – Fault Management (4G/5G RAN) at Nokia. Join the Fault Management team in Amadora and start your career in the world of 4G and 5G mobile networks. This is an internship with a duration of 12 months, starting around November 2025. Location: On-site in Amadora, Portugal. Education recommendations: currently a candidate finishing their BSc or MSc in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with an accredited school.
As a trainee, you will be part of the R&D team responsible for reviewing and troubleshooting trouble reports (bugs) in Nokia’s RAN Layer 1 software. This role offers
- on experience in C++ debugging, exposure to real telecom product issues, and the chance to collaborate daily with multiple development teams on software that powers the mobile networks of the future. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills in a dynamic environment, learn from experienced engineers, and contribute to improving the quality and reliability of advanced mobile network products.
Responsibilities
- Debugging and assessing C++ code to investigate trouble reports
- Apply troubleshooting methods to identify and resolve complex issues
- Collaborate with
- functional teams working on different RAN software components - Gain knowledge of 4G and 5G RAN system architecture and protocols
- Document findings and contribute to team knowledge sharing
Qualifications
- B. Sc. or M. Sc. student in Telecommunications, Computer Science/Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
- Knowledge of C++ programming and software development practices
- Ability to evaluate and solve problems with a debugging mindset
- Familiarity with mobile networks, particularly 4G and 5G RAN technologies
- Strong communication skills and fluency in English
Nice to have
