The Open
Search team focuses on creating enterprise automation solutions for search and analytics platforms like Open
Search and Elasticsearch. We have multiple openings across various levels, and we will help you find a suitable position based on your experience and interests. Our engineers are mindful of
- source community dynamics and the needs of large, innovative organizations.

This is a globally remote role.

What your day will look like

The Open
Search team handles automation of Open
Search operations, including
- tolerant replication, TLS, installation, and more. The team provides
- specific expertise on data systems to other teams at Canonical. This role is focused on creating and automating features of data platforms, not analyzing data.

• Collaborate proactively with an international team
• Write
  - quality, idiomatic Python code to develop new features
• Debug issues and engage with upstream communities publicly
• Work with talented engineers, including experts in diverse fields
• Work from home with global travel for 2-4 weeks annually for events

What we are looking for in you

• Proven experience in software development using Python
• Experience in distributed systems development
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or similar
• Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events

You may also have experience in some of the following, which will influence the role and level considered:

• Managing search and analytics engines like Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, or Open
  Search
• Linux systems administration and operations experience
• Experience with public or private cloud solutions like Open
  Stack
• Experience operating Kubernetes clusters and believing in their use for persistent data services
