About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Backend SDET to join a leading Fintech engineering team. This role focuses on building, automating, and maintaining robust testing frameworks and strategies to ensure the performance, scalability, and reliability of backend systems. You will work closely with developers, architects, and product teams to ensure quality is integrated throughout the development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement automation frameworks for backend services and APIs.

Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts across microservices and distributed systems.

Collaborate with developers to ensure testability and improve code quality through
- left practices.

Define and drive test strategies for complex backend platforms.

Integrate test automation into the CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing.

Conduct performance, scalability, and load testing of backend services.

Debug and analyze failures in complex distributed systems, providing actionable insights.

Mentor junior SDETs and QA engineers, contributing to a culture of quality engineering.

Required Skills & Experience

8–12 years of experience in quality engineering with strong backend/API testing expertise.

Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, or Python (preferred for backend automation).

Hands-on experience with REST and g
RPC API testing.

Solid knowledge of automation frameworks (JUnit, Test
NG, Rest
Assured, Karate, etc. ).

Strong background in CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git
Lab CI, or similar).

Experience with containerized applications and environments (Docker, Kubernetes).

Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

Familiarity with databases (SQL/No
SQL) for validation and test data management.

Experience with performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling, Locust, etc. ).

Strong
- solving and debugging skills in distributed backend systems.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Nice-to-Have

Prior experience in fintech or
- volume transaction systems.

Familiarity with Kafka, MQ, or other messaging platforms.

Knowledge of security testing for APIs.

Previous experience in a regulated financial industry.
