About the Role

Around the world, the people who design, build, and operate better and more resilient infrastructure rely on software from Bentley Systems. The Bentley Mobility Simulation Division is looking for a candidate to join the team of data scientists and software engineers who use advanced software, big data, machine learning, cloud deployments, and complex data engineering to better understand the movement of people. We produce mobility data and analytics to guide investments that help to reduce travel times, environmental impacts, and social inequities, enabling states, cities, regions, and transit agencies to better serve their communities. You will be part of our data engineering team, comprising 15 experts across Europe and the USA, utilizing your software and data skills to enhance our data processes, quality, and analytics.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design, build, and maintain efficient and reliable Spark data pipelines implemented in Scala.
2. Automate data processing pipelines with Airflow (Python).
3. Collaborate with engineers to develop new datasets and procedures.
4. Suggest and implement improvements on current data pipelines.
5. Develop automated test plans and data quality checks.
6. Research new technologies and contribute to the evolution of our pipelines.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
2. 3-5 years of experience developing data pipelines with Spark.
3. Proficiency with Scala or a strong interest in learning it.
4. Conscientious about code quality and data integrity.
5. Experience with Python.
6. Interest in Functional Programming.

Preferred Skills

1. Experience with performance optimization.
2. Experience with GIS is highly advantageous.
3. Familiarity with mobility datasets is a plus.
