About The Department

Cloudflare’s engineering teams build and maintain the systems and products that power our global platform, which serves the Internet population with low latency and high availability.

About The Team

Engineering delivers code to production rapidly and relies on automated testing. The Testing at Scale team builds tooling that helps other engineers write tests to verify system interactions and production performance at large scale.

Role

We are looking for motivated software engineers to join the Testing at Scale team. You will have a strong programming background with experience developing and maintaining distributed systems, and you will work with engineers across the company to deliver tooling for testing needs. You will collaborate with product managers to support synthetic testing and load testing for enterprise customers.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of distributed systems for testing and production verification.
• Develop tooling that enables testing across systems and products at large scale.
• Communicate effectively with engineers and product teams to understand system behaviors and testing requirements.
• Collaborate with
  - functional teams to improve software development and testing processes.
• Document test plans, test cases, and test scripts; create and maintain test documentation and reports.

Qualifications

• Proven track record as a software engineer or in a similar role.
• Programming experience in Go or Rust (or equivalent
  - systems experience).
• Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining secure and highly available distributed systems.
• Ability to develop, document, and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
• Experience creating and maintaining test documentation, including test cases and reports.
• Ability to collaborate with
  - functional engineering teams and understand how systems interact.
• Desire to drive improvements in software development and testing processes.
• Good communication skills with the ability to provide clear, concise feedback to engineering and product teams.

Nice to have skills

• Experience with synthetic traffic and load testing tools.
• Experience measuring uptime metrics such as availability and latency SLOs/SLIs.
