The Role
We are seeking an experienced, driven, and customer‑focused Engineering Manager to lead our team of skilled engineers in the development and delivery of core PDF libraries that power workflows across Nitro’s products and platform. The ideal candidate will have a relentless focus on delivering an exceptional user experience, have a strong technical background, proven leadership abilities, and experience in managing teams operating under Agile and Scrum frameworks. You will play a pivotal role in driving team performance, ensuring high‑quality software delivery, and fostering a collaborative and innovative engineering culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and inspire teams of C++ and C# application engineers, taking accountability for delivery across your teams.
- Actively foster a high bar for engineering excellence with a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability.
- Encourage and enable a customer‑centric mindset within the team, working closely with our product and partner teams to develop solutions that exceed our customer expectations.
- Support professional growth through regular feedback, coaching, and performance reviews.
- Partner with senior engineers in your area to drive technical initiatives that raise the bar for our engineering practices.
- Lead communication with stakeholders from other teams, creating focused space for engineers to do their best work.
- Collaborate with the wider engineering organisation to contribute to and improve company‑wide best managerial and technical practices and standards.
- Champion and implement modern development practices and workflows to maximize team efficiency and transparency, using metrics to identify process improvements and make data‑driven decisions.
- Align engineering efforts with business goals, product vision, and technical strategy.
- Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and mitigation plans.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 3-5+ years as an Engineering Manager in a software development environment with direct experience leading cross‑functional teams.
- Strong understanding of application development and release management.
- Experience working on internal APIs and SDKs is a plus.
- Track record of shipping user‑focused applications and products.
- Hands‑on experience with modern development practices such as CI/CD, unit testing, and version control (Git).
- Proven experience leading teams using Agile and/or Scrum methodologies.
- Ability to quickly build trust, motivate, mentor, and develop high‑performing teams.
- Strong communication, organizational, and decision‑making skills.
- Ability to work with a diverse set of teams and individuals with various working styles to drive clarity, make decisions and simply get things done.
- Experience working cross‑functionally with Product, Design, QA and marketing teams.
