We are seeking engineering managers passionate about operational systems, open source tech, and hardware to lead teams optimizing Ubuntu for the latest x86, ARM, RISC-V, s390x, and POWER systems. Our partnerships with silicon vendors aim to enhance Ubuntu on new platforms, integrating
- gen features and performance improvements while maintaining a consistent user experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop engineering teams from junior to senior levels.
- Manage commercial engagements and ensure timely project delivery.
- Serve as technical lead on complex system architecture projects.
- Implement disciplined engineering processes.
- Maintain and optimize platform software stacks.
- Enhance Ubuntu for new hardware platforms.
- Provide technical leadership internally and in external communities.
- Participate in code reviews and produce technical documentation.
- Collaborate with leadership on strategy and execution.
Qualifications
- Strong academic background from high school through university or equivalent experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or STEM fields, or an alternative proven pathway.
- Proficiency in C, C++, and Python.
- Experience with Linux and system software (kernel or user space).
- Familiarity with Debian/Ubuntu or other distro packaging.
- Experience leading software engineering teams.
- Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
- Confidence in communicating, giving feedback, and sharing ideas.
- Self-motivated, thoughtful, and
- driven. - Willingness to travel internationally twice a year for up to two weeks.
Preferred skills
- Experience with open source communities and licensing.
- Knowledge of computer architectures like x86, ARM, RISC-V, s390x.
- Understanding of build systems and
- compilation. - Customer engagement experience.
- Board
- up and validation experience. - Experience with Linux virtualization, networking, or graphics stacks.
- Knowledge of Docker, OCI containers, K8s, confidential computing, RDMA, Infiniband,
- performance computing, benchmarking, and profiling.
