Sous Chef
Carcavelos – Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Salary: € 23, 800 per annum
Hours: 40 per week
A private British international school, located in Carcavelos, Lisbon. It is a co‑educational school for pupils aged 3‑18, catering for about 650 students and teachers daily. The school offers a core feeding of AM & PM snack, lunch and hospitality. The operation runs Monday to Friday and includes free parking at the school.
We are currently looking for a creative and effective Sous Chef to join our kitchen team in Carcavelos.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare all food service areas for the day's business and meal service.
- Ensure timely service of all meals and maintain client service standards.
- Follow company methods of preparation and presentation.
- Prepare, set‑up, serve, clean and store food, beverage or equipment for daily service.
- Follow good hygiene and safety practices while preparing all food for sale/service.
- Restock and replenish stocks and consumables during service periods.
- Notify the kitchen team of any food running out and pre‑empt delays in customer waiting.
- Complete all cleaning, hygiene and rubbish duties.
- Serve customers, visitors and guests in line with company and client service standards.
- Assist in the preparation and placing of orders.
- Ensure the kitchen operates in line with current health & safety regulations.
- Keep the kitchen clean at the end of each shift.
- Attend meetings and training courses as required.
- Notify the head chef of stock movements to ensure products are ordered for forthcoming menus.
General Responsibilities
- Attend all staff meetings as required.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures and legislation.
- Maintain correct uniform and personal presentation.
- Carry out food temperature checks and other service checks.
- Carry out reasonable requests from management.
- Provide cover for other staff during absence periods.
- Report hazards to the Head Chef or Location Manager.

- Good written English reading skills.
- Similar experience in customer and/or food preparation environments preferred.
