Position
Specialist Import/Export
Reports to: Trade Compliance Sr. Manager, Global Trade & Customs Excellence (GTE)
What You Will Do
In this vital role you will be responsible for the integration of policy and executional activities for imports and exports in support of the entire Amgen organization. Provide program oversight for Trade Compliance established controls and global standards for regional execution.
Responsibilities
- Management of operational import and export activities, ensuring compliance with Amgen's Trade Compliance policies as well as relevant customs and trade sanctions regulations.
- Provide Trade Compliance guidance and support to key stakeholders.
- Act as escalation point of contact to support operational trade activities within the Global Trade & Customs Excellence team.
- Monitor, analyze and interpret government regulations as they relate to customs and export control regulations.
- Support Customs related audits and inspections.
- Collaborate
- functionally to support corporate planning initiatives and provide Trade Compliance support. - Export control management and support with obtaining applicable export permits and licenses.
- Interact with Customs and third parties to resolve customs issues and delays.
- Collect and report on key transactional performance metrics.
- Provide oversight and performance management of outsourced brokerage services.
- Provide oversight of Customs Warehouse activities & Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) certification.
- Support the establishment, documentation and periodic update of Trade Compliance processes and procedures.

Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma / GED and 10 years of Trade Compliance experience OR
- Associate’s degree and 8 years of Trade Compliance experience OR
- Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of Trade Compliance experience OR
- Master’s degree and 2 years of Trade Compliance experience OR
- Doctorate degree
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensed US Customs Broker
- Understanding of International Customs and World Trade Organization Regulations
Proficiencies
- Proficient in key customs processes including valuation, commodity classification, country of origin determination.
- Experience in customs procedures and other complex customs matters.
- Ability to build working relationships and optimally partner
- functionally/cross-regionally at all levels in the organization. - Continuous improvement mindset and process improvement focus.
- Ability to leverage relationships with industry peers for benchmarking and sharing best practices.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity to resolve issues.
- Excellent oral and written communication, facilitation, collaboration, and executive presentation skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of GMP regulations and GDP requirements.
- Self-starter with the ability to tackle several projects at one time.
- Experience or education in international trade law.
- Initiator with analytical, problem solving and
- making skills.
