Mission of the Role: As part of the Mechanical product architecture, you are responsible for interacting with the program management/pursuit lead and mechanical experts (ME Core) to ensure all mechanical deliverables are on track.

Key Objectives of this Role:

Specifications to ME lead:

• Manage a mechanical engineering group to define the mechanical structures required to support module needs that meet customer specifications, cost targets, reliability targets, and manufacturing requirements.
• Manage the project according to automotive development flow to ensure all deliverables are on track.

Support the request for quotation (RFQ) process by:

• Implementing mechanical architectures during the quotation phase.
• Generating design documents to demonstrate compliance for internal and external review.
• Presenting and defending the design in technical forums with internal and external customers.
• Meeting with customers to understand and resolve potential technical issues.

Leading technical product development by:

• Leading the initial design phase transitioning from quote to execution.
• Interfacing with customers and engineering teams to understand architectures, requirements, and technology needs.
• Participating in onboarding new technologies and suppliers.
• Establishing engineering process compliance for design validation.
• Playing a lead role in solving complex design issues.

Key Performance Indicators:

• Mechanical Design Efficiency
• Design Rework Rate
• Approval of basic module architecture and elements
• Approval of mechanical roadmap supporting electrification
• Providing quote support for electrification pursuits
• Leading the mechanical engineering team during project execution

Qualification, Experience and Skills:

• Bachelor’s/master’s degree in mechanical engineering
• At least 1 project lead experience from RFQ to SOP, with good knowledge of managing mechanical projects according to automotive design flow (project management experience preferred)
• Minimum five years of experience in automotive design within global Tier 1 or OEM companies
• Knowledge of mechanical system design for vehicle charging electronics or powertrain modules (not mandatory)
• In-depth knowledge of power electronics system design including inverters,
  - board chargers, DC/DC converters (not mandatory)
• Expertise in enclosure design, thermal management, structural design, sealing, interconnections, PCB, and material selection for cabin and exterior environments
• Experience with sheet metal, plastic moldings, extrusions, castings, and design for manufacturing reviews
• Experience in quoting, designing, and launching
  - volume power electronics for mass production
• Experience interacting with internal stakeholders and external customers at OEM or Tier 1 level
• Experience in requirement analysis and issue management (e. g. , Doors, Jira)
• Experience with ASIL-D, DFMEA, and other quality documentation
• Failure analysis and testing experience
• Strong understanding of design for module reliability
• Knowledge of EMC/ESD and circuit design
• Experience with CAD systems (preferably Catia, Tc database)
• Experience in BOM release process
• Experience with structural or thermal simulation tools (preferred)
