Location: Sheffield
Aptean is seeking an EMEA Sr Tax Accountant (5-6 years of experience) to join our Sheffield office. This
- on role involves broad responsibilities, including ensuring the timely and compliant filing of direct and indirect tax returns for a portfolio of EMEA entities within a
- growing, private
- backed group. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, focusing on process improvements and efficiencies as the company expands through acquisitions. The role offers exposure to a wide range of tax topics across Europe, alongside overseeing

- day compliance.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing
- end tax returns, coordinating with local advisors to ensure compliance in UK, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Poland, Ireland, Italy, Belgium, France, Netherlands, Spain, Finland, and Sweden. - Calculate and submit advance tax payments across these countries.
- Supervise VAT return filings for all listed countries, addressing external and internal queries to ensure compliance.
- Support ad hoc tax compliance issues, conducting research with advisors and coordinating process changes internally.
- Handle R&D claims.
- Ensure transfer pricing calculations are accurate, coordinating with internal teams for revisions if needed.
- Submit tax residency certificates across EMEA.
- Assist with EMEA accounting and reconciliation of tax accounts.
- Support
- end global provisions for consolidated group audits under US GAAP. - Contribute to the implementation of tax engines and
- invoicing software to ensure compliance with the European Commission’s VAT in the Digital Age (Vi
DA) proposal. - Assist with understanding the impact of BEPS 2. 0: Pillar One and Pillar Two on the group.
Skills & Experience
- Solid knowledge of technical accounting principles, backed by a recognized professional accountancy qualification.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines with high commitment.
- A disciplined
- starter with a proactive attitude, capable of working within a matrix organization. - Strong attention to detail, data integrity, and process improvement skills.
- Flexible and adaptable mindset, experienced in change management and maintaining composure under pressure.
- Excellent analytical skills, capable of analyzing large and complex datasets and summarizing findings effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
- Availability to work four days a week in the office.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Required: Strong understanding of accounting standards, experience in a tax department, preferably with commerce background but practice considered. Experience with European taxes is necessary, though not required in every country we operate in.
- Preferred: Accounting or finance experience in a global software industry.
- Recognized accounting qualification (CIMA, ACA, ACCA).
