Who are you
We are looking for a motivated Staff Cloud Engineer to join our Dev
Ops and Cloud team based in Lisbon. The Staff Cloud Engineer acts as a technical authority and
- team enabler for all Cloud and Dev
Ops initiatives. This role goes beyond
- on engineering — it drives architecture standards, mentoring, and
- term strategy to ensure our cloud platforms are secure,
- efficient, reliable, and aligned with business needs. The Staff Engineer collaborates with Engineering, Security, and Product teams to define best practices, set reference architectures, and guide the evolution of our cloud ecosystem.
The main responsibilities of the successful candidate include:
Technical Leadership & Strategy:
- Define cloud architecture blueprints and ensure consistency across teams and projects.
- Partner with Engineering Leadership to align infrastructure strategy with business priorities.
- Lead design reviews, influence technology choices, and provide guidance on
- offs between cost, performance, and reliability. - Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and propose adoption strategies.
Infrastructure as Code & Automation:
- Define and enforce standards for Ia
C (Terraform, Bicep) and Git
Ops workflows across all teams. - Promote idempotent, automated, and repeatable infrastructure patterns, reducing manual operations.
- Guide the development of reusable modules and templates for consistent cloud provisioning.
Platform Reliability & Observability
- Establish SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets for critical services.
- Oversee observability standards (monitoring, logging, tracing) and promote a culture of proactive detection and resolution.
- Drive initiatives to minimize downtime and operational toil through automation and
- healing systems.
Security & Compliance
- Embed security controls and compliance requirements (IAM, network segmentation, encryption) into infrastructure patterns by default.
- Act as the cloud security champion, partnering with Info
Sec to ensure adherence to security standards and audits.
Cost & Performance Optimization
- Define Fin
Ops best practices, monitor cloud spend, and recommend optimizations. - Proactively
- size infrastructure, leverage reserved capacity, and ensure efficient use of resources. - Coach and mentor cloud engineers, enabling them to grow their technical depth and autonomy.
- Lead internal workshops and technical talks to raise the bar across the engineering organization.
What can you bring to the table?
Education : Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
Experience : At least 5 years of experience in a similar role. 7+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering or Platform Engineering roles, with at least 2 years acting as a technical leader or architect.
Technical Skills :
- Deep expertise in Azure (AWS/ GCP experience is a plus). Proficiency in containerization technologies such as Docker and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
- Proven experience with Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, or equivalent Ia
C tools. - In-depth knowledge of monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or Splunk.
- Previous experience with Networking, like creation and setup of VNet/SNet, routing, DNS, peering will be a differential.
- Previous experience in the implementation of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions to maintain business Data Integrity.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate a
- first approach into all aspects of infrastructure and Dev
Ops processes design and implementation. - Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines at scale using tools like Azure Dev
Ops, Argo
CD, Jenkins, or Git
Hub Actions.
Nice to have:
- Proficiency in a programming language (Python, Go, or. NET).
- Experience with Fin
Ops and cost optimization frameworks. - Previous exposure to ISO 27001, SOC2, or similar compliance frameworks.
- Prior experience acting as a Tech Lead, Staff Engineer, or Principal Engineer in a
- up or Saa
S environment. - Preferred Certifications on Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305), Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Dev
