Overview
Supplier Development Engineer - Electronics (M/F/D) at Borg
Warner, located at our new production plant in Viana, Portugal.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate Supplier APQP activity for New Product Launch components in compliance with APQP procedures.
- Identify, plan and implement Supplier Continuous Improvement activities via Value Analysis/Value Engineering, Kaizen, Lean Deployment and/or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Determine disposition of Supplier PPAP submissions and train Suppliers to Client expectations/requirements.
- Assist in identifying high impact suppliers and visit them to ensure APQP progress and process integrity.
- Serve as a roadblock remover to ensure APQP target dates are met and proactively work with Suppliers to minimize launch issues.
- Report Supplier APQP progress/problems to Client Launch Team and lead APQP activities at suppliers.
- Initiate and Track Suppliers Continuous Improvement Activities and drive waste/cost reduction in the supply chain using value engineering, Kaizen, Lean methods or Six Sigma.
- Review and disposition Supplier PPAP submissions and ensure timing supports launch objectives; keep PPAP timing communicated to Launch Team members.
- Ensure all PPAP requirements are met and documentation is up to date for components within assigned commodities.
- Conduct Supplier Quality Training at Suppliers facilities and at Client manufacturing facilities to meet quality expectations; perform supplier audits and complete Quality Systems Assessments at Supplier facilities.
- Coordinate Significant Characteristics (S. C. ) identification with
- functional teams and ensure supplier conformance; collect quarterly S. C. data for entry into the S. C. database.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably Electronics/Electrical).
Knowledge and Experience
- Automotive Tier 1 industry preferred but not required.
- Knowledge in manufacturing problem solving (8-D Methodology) and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of TS 16949 requirements including APQP and PPAP.
- Knowledge of SPC; strong training or knowledge in Kaizen, Six Sigma, Lean deployment and Value Engineering/Value Analysis.
- Proven track record in running Kaizen events.
Skills
- Effective problem definition, data collection, fact establishment and drawing valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
- Proficient in developing reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Effective presentation skills and ability to respond to questions from Management and Customers.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Lotus Notes and Power
Point.
