Purpose of the Role
To work on the architecture, operation and continuous development of our global server infrastructure, encompassing Windows, Linux, and UNIX platforms. The role focuses on building a resilient, secure and scalable infrastructure foundation supporting core business systems across all regions, both on-premises and in the cloud, in line with ITIL and information security best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain
- platform server environments across Windows, Linux, and UNIX. - Manage and evolve the global Active Directory infrastructure, including secure authentication, policy enforcement, and domain architecture.
- Implement, operate and optimise virtualised platforms (primarily VMware), supporting high availability, resource planning and secure VM lifecycle management.
- Integration and administration of IBM Cloud Iaa
S. Contribute to readiness and adoption of
- native technologies on AWS or Azure (beneficial). - Implement and maintain enterprise‑grade backup, storage (SAN/NAS), monitoring systems to ensure uptime, compliance and rapid recovery.
- Drive the automation of system provisioning, patching, and configuration using tools such as Power
Shell, Ansible, or Terraform. - Ensure the security, compliance, and resilience of infrastructure through configuration hardening, vulnerability management, and access control.
- Collaborate globally with IT teams across regions to ensure standardisation, knowledge sharing, and consistent infrastructure delivery.
- Lead infrastructure projects from planning to execution, including global rollouts, migrations, upgrades, and modernisation efforts.
- Support audits and participate in IT security reviews, ensuring infrastructure aligns with relevant frameworks (e. g. , ISO 27001, CIS, NIST).
- Document architecture, operational procedures, and support materials for internal teams.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent hands‑on experience in complex infrastructure environments.
- Proven expertise in managing large‑scale server ecosystems across multiple platforms and locations.
- Experience supporting distributed infrastructure environments with 4, 000+ users and 2, 000+ virtual machines globally.
- Exposure to secure hybrid environments integrating on‑premise and cloud infrastructure.
Technical Competencies
Mandatory:
- Administration of Windows, Linux and UNIX server platforms
- Active Directory (multi‑domain/forest) and identity lifecycle management
- VMware v
Sphere/ESXi (virtualisation, resource pools, HA) - IBM Cloud (Iaa
S provisioning, administration, security) - Storage and backup systems (SAN/NAS, enterprise‑grade backup platforms)
- Core networking knowledge: TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, routing
- Monitoring and observability tools
- Automation/orchestration skills (Power
Shell, Bash, Ansible)
Beneficial:
- Experience with AWS and/or Azure, especially in hybrid or cloud‑native contexts
- Exposure to Dev
Ops and Agile practices in IT operations - Knowledge of containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with infrastructure compliance, access control, and secure baselining (e. g. , CIS, NIST)
