Position : Senior System Engineer – Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)

Location : Remote from Portugal

About the Project

We are seeking an experienced System Engineer with deep expertise in Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) to join a critical infrastructure project for a leading German company. This role is pivotal, as you will be the primary PKI expert, driving the design, implementation, and
- term operation of the system.

Since there is no advanced PKI knowledge
- house, you will be expected to provide expert input, define best practices, and lead the evolution of the PKI environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, deployment, and operation of the PKI solution, including Root CAs, Sub CAs, CRL, and OCSP services.
• Provide strategic and technical leadership on PKI-related topics, ensuring secure and efficient operations.
• Implement hardening measures for Windows Server AD Certificate Services.
• Develop automation scripts and operational tooling using Power
  Shell.
• Manage PKI-related infrastructure in VMware v
  Cloud environments.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure PKI aligns with business, security, and compliance requirements.
• Prepare documentation, operational guidelines, and training materials for future PKI team members.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven track record in PKI design, deployment, and administration in enterprise environments.
• Strong expertise in Windows Server AD Certificate Services and system hardening.
• Proficiency in Power
  Shell scripting for automation.
• Experience with VMware v
  Cloud infrastructure.
• Strong communication skills in English (German is a plus).

Desirable Skills

• Basic knowledge of Linux-based PKI solutions (e. g. , ACME / Open
  XPKI).
• Experience in infrastructure projects for
  - scale or critical environments.

Additional Notes

This is a senior lead role in the future, with plans to expand the PKI team with
- level and junior engineers to establish a 24/7
- call rotation and night shift coverage. You will play a key role in mentoring and guiding the incoming team.
